LS1 vs LS6 Intake & components Can someone out there please school me on the intakes and necessary components of an LS1 and LS6. Reason: I have an LS1 motor and found out the intake is no good, I need to replace the intake, and have access possibly to an LS6 intake. LS1 is all stock and I don't want to change anything from the LS1. So can I simply bolt on the LS6 intake and not have to change anything else or is there other stuff I will need to change? |
You should be good, though if the LS1 has any emission gear like EGR, the LS6 won't have that. |
Motor is being put into a 66 Chevy truck |
Then no problem! |
If you have a 4 corner steam vent you might need to bend it down/remove the ribs off the bottom of the intake. It's not a big deal though and has been done many times. |
Many ls1's came stock with ls6 intake. You are golden. |
The stock LS1 steam vents do cause a minor problem. You can cut on the LS6 intake to make it work, or you can just buy the LS6 steam vents. The rears are block offs and the front is an actual tube. You can read about it on the SLP LS6 intake directions (SLP modified the LS6 intake to accept the EGR system on the '98-'00 F-Body, but as mentioned, you won't need to worry about that): https://www.jegs.com/InstallationIns.../847-30041.pdf |
