Question Is an LS2 Intake 'too much' for a 5.3 and Sloppy Stage 2 Cam?

Trying to decide on intake manifolds here with those LS2 and LS6 Dorman ones available everywhere. My LM4 will have milled 862s (.020"), flat tops and a Sloppy Stage II cam (Elgin 1840P). I assume since this cam has more lift than the truck cam that was in it before I'll need an intake that flows better all the way to 7000RPM (road race build).

Which intake is better for this setup? The LS2 gives me the ability to use a 90mm TB, which may be more beneficial with the cam I assume?

For a 5.3 the LS2 intake will be fine. If more flow is needed, use the Dorman LS2 as it's better than the OEM one

Any mods I have to do with the Dorman intake? I've heard people have had to start grinding here and there.

I believe that's for fbodys since the water pump is different. I could be wrong as I don't have a 5.3 but did some research on the dorman ls2 intake for my camaro

You might have to change your front end accessory drive system to either a Corvette alignment (closest to engine) or Gen 4 F-body (mid-spacing). You now have the truck spacing, where you could get a 2010-2014 Camaro accessory drive system which has the same spacing.

Looks like there are issues with the LS1 water pumps requiring grinding. What about an LS2 pump, or are they the same?

Is the LS1 a Vette pump or Camaro? Different spacing for the belt.

People have used the GTO water pump with the 90mm intakes. I'm not sure about belt spacing though.

“Too much?” No. But use the dorman version
