Exhaust suggestion 408 Camaro SS I currently am running a Hooker Aerochamber CB with cutout. Previous owner installed this long ago and I'm looking to replace, while im doing new headers and things like that. Iron 408, LS3 ported heads (821 castings) and LS3 intake ported as well. Curious to see if i will pick up any power from swapping the headers to 1-7/8" and doing a new cat back or possibly a true dual setup? Thanks in advance for replies. https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/ls1tech...1a514f45ed.jpg |
Beautiful car! Id say that thing deserves a true dual setup by kooks |
i’d Say duals with choice of mufflers you like. A nice 4” y pipe with catback will handle your 408 either way. |
If ground clearance is important and if the car is lowered the True Dual Hooker Blackheart is an excellent choice. Its dual 2.5 inch instead of dual 3 inch. Hooked Blackheart has 1 7/8 headers (intermediate) available and also an adapter. My lowered 99TA has a 416 Kook's LT's, custom x pipe and Blackheart true duals. Very happy with the set up. It's loud enough but liveable ~ 70-75 db in car at cruise on interstate. ~90-93db outside of car at ~2,000 rpm. The Kook's true dual set up is sweet but expensive and very loud. Ive read as much as 120 db. Speed Engineering appears to have nice inexpensive LT and true dual exhaust too. It looks like it's based om the Kook's design. I have a set of SE LT's for another project and they are pretty nice. I would buy another set if Speed Engineering headers. |
