Default Dry Nitrous without O2 Sensors

Hello all, 1985 Monte Carlo 5.3 LM7 swap. My tuner bypassed the O2 sensors due to aftermarket camshaft. Wanting to install a Nitrous Outlet dry system and run a 75 shot. Wondering how the engine will compensate fuel if my Oxygen Sensors are bypassed? Will the MAP/MAF work for that or will i need to add the o2s back in? What is my best course of action here?

Several things

1. You should never bypass the 02's, I wouldn't anyway

2. I've never known of anyone that needed to bypass the 02's due to having a cam, I guess some may but it isn't common.

3. Even if you had 02's, they wouldn't compensate for the nitrous.

4. You should never hope anything compensates for nitrous. You tune it to make sure that the tune is safe and spot on while on the nitrous. ESPECIALLY with a dry shot. With a wet shot depending on size you can tune it with the nitrous kit but timing still needs to be addressed. And spark plugs need to be addressed.

Ive heard of tuners dealing with bad oxygen sensors and switching tune to speed density instead of making the owner come in and put new ones in. Maybe I have been misinformed though.

Yeah technically you can do that. But you can also disable the 02's if you're running SD or MAF tunes, disabling the 02's is a preference and is not dictated by which tune you do.

Speed density gets rid of the MAF and relys on the MAP sensor alone instead of MAP and MAF like it's setup stock.

Doesn't really have anything to do with the 02's though.


That I'm aware of most tuners do not disable the 02's even with long tubes and big cams. Apparently by OP's post, his tuner does. I would prefer not to.
