F'n SLP LT's ...install question I had to jack up my motor to get the dr. side on....do I have to do it for the pass side?? I'll be puttin the pass. side on later, and I just want to know what I'm up against. |
I followed SLPs instruction sheet and loosened the tranny crossmember bolts and had a helper use a prybar to push the engine/trans assembly toward the driver's side while I manipulated the header into position...it takes some time and patience and you will need a helper...good luck! |
you have to pry the tranny to the side to get those headers to slip in. Get yourself a good strong helper. |
Those headers are a freakin pain in the ass... Make sure you get a couple buddies to help you. |

They are a pain but I was stuck under my car with no one around so I wasnt taking no for an answer. It is doable by yourself but its not fun. your going to laugh at me for telling you this but If you need, and your stuck alone: - lay on your back with head pointed toward the front of the car - put the header partially up, it will go in a bit but not all teh way - get the prybar in place for moving the tranny to the left. - use your legs to pry the trany while your hands can work the header up in place Not too too bad. the thing that I couldnt do alone was the radiator after the cam install. good luck |
For the passenger side we undid the motor mount, the starter & took off the trans. brace to pry the damn thing over enough to put them in. You need a big ass pry bar to get enough leverage. Home Depot sells a crowbar called FAT MAX, it's bright yellow & a damn good size to pry a tranny out of the way. It only cost $9 maybe $14 at the most. It'll get the job done. Have fun putting those bitches in. Hope you have a lot of patience you'll need it. |
They are such a pain that I won't even install them anymore for customers. :) |
Well guys I got them both in now, I used a jack handle to pry the tranny over, and I was prying so hard....I ripped a hole in the floow!!! :bang: But I figued it out, they slip right in, you have to lower the trans down about 1/2" and slide the pass side header along the floor and the framereil area, and they slide right in!!! Thanks, for all your help. Matt |
I used a cable pulley winch to pull the tranny over. Those headers are a FUCKING bitch to install/ take out. |
