I installed a set of Kooks 1 3/4 and I have to say, if it wasn't for the stock bolts acting up when I reused them, it would have been one of the most trouble free installs of anything I've done. Gonna get some new bolts and use some anti-sieze on that shit soon. Highly recommend new bolts if your car has a few more miles like mine(65k).

Clearance is AWESOME. They tuck up to the car so well I want to say I didn't lose ANY clearance at all over the stock piece of shit logs. Definitely worth the money, its a great investment.

Pretty much anything other than SLP LTs..

are the collectors in the KOOKS headers slip fit? will it fit good so that it won't leak?

before in my 94 LT1 camaro i had hooker long tubes and they had the 3 bolt flange collectors, they weren't leaking since i tieghtened the bolts so hard :) but the ground clearance sucked with this kind of 3 bolt flanges.

I went with Pacesetters, hopefully the clearance will be good. But I agree with Abdullah the ground clearance with the Hooker style collectors do have worse clearance.

which LT's size is best for a 346 LS1 : 1-3/4" or 1-7/8" ? are the 1-7/8" OK with the 346? becuase later i will upgrade to 408 stroker.

cyphur Jan 8, 2005 01:05 AM

its ok for now, people have seen crazy results with both kinds. some people believe 1 7/8's are only for big CI/large shots of sauce/mad boost. to each their own, i'll be gettin 1 7/8 when it comes time for my stroker.

I would say 1 3/4" are best for most 346 applications but if you are going to move up to a potent 408 later on I would just start off with the 1 7/8" versions, it won't hurt your 346s output by enough to warrant buying two sets of headers or anything.

Oh and yes, QTPs do tuck up there quite nicely. www.quicktimeperformance.com

Get the QTP race headers that come with no EGR and air tubes.. you will get an SES light but it wont affect performance... later on when you can delete the codes.

i think i will go with the QTP 1-7/8" race headers with high velocity merge collectors and thier y-pipe. i went with this 1-7/8" size because i will go in the future with a 408 stroker :thumb: .
