Default Anyone have a problem with serpentine belt slipping off?

I was at California Speedway today running the 2.8 mile course, came in off a session and found that my belt was halfway off, about to slide off. I had driven 160 miles to the track, it was fine, drove a 160 miles home, it was fine. But it wouldn't stay on for a 15 min run around the track. Anyone ever have a problem like that? Has there ever been any documentation of the stock tensioner moving due to lateral g's? I had the alternator off last night putting the prothane motor mounts on, but everything is tight.

I was kinda scared after the fact cause it would really suck if the belt came off @ 145mph going into turn 1.

Looks like I'll be ordering a katech belt tensioner.

Yes. It is much better than the stock junk. The stock adjuster is for stock vehicles.

where can you get the katech piece from? I've checked a good number of the web pages on the right and they don't seem to carry it.

You can also get a "Larry pulley". It's basically a pulley with a higher lip so the belt doesn't come off, and it's only about $70 from Thunder Racing. It fixed my belt slipping problems, but the Katech tensioner will also remedy this problem.

I had the same problem and simply replaced the old tensioner pulley with a new, stock tensioner pulley. Works great.

Ben, call Thunder for the Katech piece. I have it and have not had any more problems with my belt jumping any more.

check to see if the tensioner pulley bolts are loose first.

My belt flew off once and I didn't want to get stranded so I called Thunder ordered a Katech and went to the nearest auto parts store and grabbed a gatorback belt. Haven't had an issues since (it was 2 + years ago).
