From what I've heard, a lid is a lid. It comes down to preference as to whether you want a clear, smoked, or black one. There is a test floating around here that has flow results...... I believe that all lids were within a couple HP of each other. I have the SLP lid and the fitment is good and I am happy with it.

Based on an article I read, and made notes on, I plan to buy either a SLP or TSP (Texas Speed) lid. Here are the numbers:

TSP = +11 hp, +9 tq, + 1.2 mph, $95
SLP = +11 hp, +10 tq, + 1.1 mph, $100

Others:
LGM G2 = +5 hp, + 11 tq, + 1 mph, $90
MTI = +6 hp, + 3 tq, + 1.4 mph, $100
NON_SPONSOR = +10 hp, + 7 tq, + 1 mph, $75
Whisper = +11 hp, + 10 tq, +0.6 mph, $140

The TSP and SLP lids had the best combination of gains in hp, tq, and trap speed in the 1/4 mile. That is why, according to this article at least, I plan to buy a SLP or a TSP lid. As a bonus, not many people complain about fit, finish, or breakage on those two either.

Also, SLP uses a material like the stock lids instead of the ABS type plastic like most others. Any will do the job, but the SLP (and I'm not an SLP fan) has a great fitting lid.

The guys are right the top 3 or 4 lids are very close to the same as far as performance gains! Get one that has good customer support, offers a good warranty & looks like it will hold up the best That being said I do have a few of the new Texas Speed lids in stock now & we have a few of the 85mm lids on the way incase your considering going 85mm maf!!

Point is, they're all very close in performance. Base your purchase on other factors i.e. price, customer service, etc..
