LT's to ory to Flowmaster 80 series? Does anyone have this setup? Im getting Kooks LT's with ory . I currently have a flowmaster 80 series 3in catback with a 3in flowtech cutout. I have heard alot of people say it will be too loud if I keep the cutout open. So what if I have it come out the flowmaster and keep the cutout closed? I know that the flowmaster is restrictive. I just want to use it to keep the noise down. Is anyone currently running this type of setup? Do you think it will sound good like this? |
I got the flowmaster and the LT's and ORY. ALot of people don't like it cause of rasp, but i say its not loud enough. I love the sound. It sounds like just a muffler at idle but when u get on it it screams. |
Thanks for the reply. Got any sound clips by chance? I dont want to just toss the Flowmaster really. Its barely had anything flow through it due to the fact I currently runt he cutout open all the time. |
i have that set up to i like the sounds just kinda pops alittle and is pretty loud outside. and pretty nice at highway speeds. |
I had Hooker Long Tubes and an off-road Y-pipe with the Flowmaster American Thunder Catback and I didn't like it. It droned really bad and it was annoying. I think the problem with it is that it's loud at all the wrong times. It gets really quiet up top compared to other mufflers and it's really loud/deep in the lower RPMs, which is why it drones so bad. I would prefer the sound of the cutout to the sound of the Flowmaster. |

i have the flowmaster muffler with headers and ory, I personally think it sounds like hell :barf: . It didnt sound that bad when it was all stock but after heads and cam, it sounds good reving and all but drivng it in low rpms just makes a farting sound in the muffler, really high pitched. On stock tune i gained 24 hp opening up the cutout. |
Thanks for all the replies guys. I am going to have the flowmaster hooked into the LT's and ory . I just cant afford a new exhaust now . Im paying about 2000 bucks for Kooks with ory , installed with a good tune and dyno . If I dont like the sound of the flowmaster I could always open the cutout until i get $$$ for new muffler . |
Its gonna be surprisingly quite on the highway, my car was louder with the stock manifolds and gutted cats with the flowmaster than with the headers and ORY. |
I have the Flowmaster 80 Series with the Hooker LT/ORP and sound like shit. It rasped so bad, I was embarrassed to give the car any gas. It makes a V8 sounds like a ricer and hated the sound. |
flowmasters do NOT flow. and they are extremely loud. inside of the car will sound like a helicopter is riding on your roof. |
hey guys i try to post a sound clip of my car with long tubes, ory and flowmaster this weekend. its not to bad but i think i am going to put a magnaflow |
I have SLP LT's ORY and the 80 Series and I think it sounds bad ass. I can spin the tires at a 20mph roll now too in an automatic which I could not do before. |
What do you think about borla? I have the borla cat back and it sounds real good. Now that I put the 2.75 diameter g2 y-pipe I can feel the rear wheels spin! But the only problem is a little stutter noise the car makes after I installed the y-pipe :  But when I accelerate it goes away, and you cannot hear it from the outside of the veh only on the inside. Does it have to do anything with changing the EGR valve? |
