Default Y-pipe won't fit after recoating

i bought a set of Hooker Coated Long Tubes off a local guy. He just had them recoated and they look brand new. Problem is, i think becuase of the extra coat of jet hot they don't fit in side the Hooker Y pipe anymore, it's very close but they don't. what can i use to expand the y pipe?

Use a tailpipe expander . They sell them in the specialty tool section of your local auto parts store .

Go to Autozone and rent a pipe expander. They'll charge you like $25 as a deposit, but you'll get it all back when you bring the tool back. Basically the rental is free. I'd rather do that then sand.

Um, guys, isnt the pips expander only for removing crimps in a pipe from where it was clamped down with a standard muffler clamp? I dont think a tailpipe expander will actually swage the end of a pipe. I have one but no matter how hard I try its not even close to actually stretching outthe metal. Am i doing it wrong? Ove used a vice, a strap wrench, and a breaker bar on the expander, nothing works.

It sounds like he only needs a very, very small increase in diameter. I had a little trouble getting my TSP duals to slide over the headers, so I rented a pipe expander. I couldn't even tell a difference at all, but afterwards it fit.
