Default quick! is there a way to get that last passenger side coil pack bolt off?

that lil phocker is kickn my tail... i got the first 9 off with a lil 1/4 inch rachet and a 10 mm.., took about 3 minutes... but i cant even see that last one, i can feel it but am having real real trouble getting the socket onto it. i could tugg off those hoses back there, but im really not sure if tahts a great idea or what

i think when i put the packs back on im going to leave that last bolt off so i dont go thru this again, wise or stupid?

Leaving that bolt out is a very wise decision, everything will be fine if that bolt missing. When you do get it out throw that **** as far as you can! You just got to keep trying, I dont think that there is any real secret to getting it out. It took me a little over 20 minutes to get it out. I have read on here that its taken as long as an hour for some people.

Same deal for me, just alot of dicking around to get it out & back in on re-install. I would make every efferot to replace all fasteners during re-assembly. GM did some stupid stuff, but they would not have wasted $$ on bolts if not not needed.

I had a problem with that same bolt last year when I changed out pushrods. I didn't replace it... and haven't had a problem out of it since. The coil packs still feel just as secure on the VC's as if it were there.

just get your arm under there with a 10mm wrench.....and take about 20 minutes....you'll walk away with an arm that looks like it was attacked by the worlds most pissed off cat....
then dont ever put that bolt back in again....
also helps if you have none of the egr/air stuff on there...
when I did my headers....I pulled all the egr/air stuff out first...and it made it easier somehow....I dont even remember any of that stuff being back that way... but somehow it helped...maybe just all in my mind

yeah a 10mm small open end will do the trick but it sure does take a while to get it out. also it is easy to drop the wrench while you are back there so take your time.

It's so easy to get out with one of those - and just as easy to get back in.

I'm not sure if your doing plugs or what but I don't even take the coils off. I can do all eight plugs in 45 min or less. Just slip my hand/arm right in there.

That was hardest part for me when changing plugs. I took got that last bolt out and ended up putting it back in without a gear wrench. Yes it took awhile, but I'm not one to leave bolts out when I know their use. If a car has a big cam and creates alot of shaking and vibration I don't want a coil to be jarred any more than it has to and risk failure. Those things are expensive. MSD sells these now and they're $75 apiece from Summit.

I used a regular 6" long 10mm wrench. I used the closed end and it took about 10 minutes to get off. I tried a gear wrench but I couldnt rotate it enough to get the ratcheting action going. I left it off and have had no problems.

I got mine out in 2 minutes. I don't have traction control though. That seems to hang up a lot of people. All of the extra cables running across the top of the intake. I used a standard craftsman 10mm wrench and used the box end to get it off.

My 10mm gear wrench was to long to fit back there. I had to use a 10mm stubby. While you have the coil packs off, cut off the tops of those long pointed bolts, it will make them easier to take off next time.

The MOST important part here is to mark both coil packs with tape and a felt pen and make sure they go back on the engine in the same order and on the same cylinder bank and in the same direction front vs, back.

I took that rear bolt off with a ratchet wrench - best 30 bucks i ever spent... I pitched the bastard in the trash.....
