My Pacesetter LT's and ORY install experience..

Well I finally got around to tossing on a set of Pacesetter LT's and ORY on my '00 WS6 this weekend with the help of a good friend and fellow T/A owner. Now he's already done this with a set of Hookers on his car (oddly enough, I helped lol), so it wasn't quite a shot in the dark since he knew what to do and when to do it, but in any event it was a very straight forward process.

The whole thing took us about 6hrs from start to finish with a Wendy's break in between, and this was including a spark plug swap and the complete removal of my EGT/AIR systems. No major issues were encoutnered along the way. Passenger side removal and install was as easy as it gets considering the space available, drivers side was a touch tighter, but I was able to get the LT on without touching anything else (no removal of the oil diverter or steering knuckle), I even had the plugs in place when I did it! ORY went on without an issue as well, and the final product..... :eek2: :eek2: :eek2:

You guys have to forgive me, I come from the Honda world where a header install is good for a whoping 2.2whp, but the difference in SOP driving with the LT's & ORY vs. the stock manifolds and Y is ridiculous! Mid-range is extremley happy, and top end feels geat as well. Well worth the $240 for the LT's and $110 for the ORY no doubt about it.

So if you're in my former shoes debating whether or not to go with Pacesetters no your F-bod, take it from me and my friend with his Hooker's.. it's SOOOOOOOOO worth it! Tunercat is in the mail so I can get rid of my emissons codes, and I've gotta do a little adjusting to the Y because I'm getting a little rattle/tapping in 1st when I hit it, but outside of that, I'm in love!

And the sounds... my god the sound. :hail:

The next step now is to sell at least one of your Hondas and use the money for more mods, like maybe a heads/cam package. :D

Haha! Tell me about it. Actually I use the Honda's as daily beaters now, the wifey get's the pleasure of toting the T/A around town. But once the sun's down.. I come out to play :)

I've been installing my pacesetters and tsp catted y for the last couple of days! (taking my time and leaving for work for 24hrs, etc). The headers really were not too awful bad. The Y-Pipe is not going to well. Hopefully tomorrow I can get it all worked out but so far I'd rather be installing headers all day than this freakin thing, and I thought it would be a 20 minute job!

VTC_WS6 Apr 25, 2005 03:34 PM

Well, it'll all be worth it when you get it all together trust me!

luv2spd Apr 25, 2005 07:05 PM

Yeah, LTs are well worth the time/money! I've had my pacesetters for over a year without any problems whatsoever.

How do you like the rasp?? I truly despise the rasp that the Pacesetters with Magnaflow produce and I'm thinking of getting Dynomax bullet mufflers to tone it down.

rally2247 Apr 25, 2005 09:47 PM

Oh, by the way you're probably around 330 - 335 rwhp and 335 rw torque now.

Err well.. it made 341whp/347wtq last time on the rollers with the lid & Magnaflow, so it might be a bit higher actually.

And the rasp, yea it's definatley present and i'm not sure if i'll get used to it. Funny thing is, my friend's T/A doesn't rasp as much with the Hooker LTs/PRY and same catback, go figure. :judge:

i just got done helping a friend with the same install and the drivers side was a bitch and a half, the header just wouldnt go in, oh well we got it but wow always thought they just slid right in.

SLPSS01 Apr 26, 2005 10:15 AM

Just did this as well last weekend and no problems at all getting the headers to slide in either side, with the plugs in. I've got the TSP ORY and it's banging BAD.
I've got the Mufflex hanger to install hopefully it does the trick.

I think a lot of it comes from the Pacesetter Y pipe. We all know that the merge isn't the best.

I am thinking about getting the Race version Pacesetters coated with the TSP ory, I have the SLP dual/dual exhaust, will this combo rasp??? Thanks

VTC_WS6 Apr 26, 2005 11:13 AM

How different is the race version of the Pacesetters?

SLPSS01 Apr 26, 2005 11:20 AM

I have the SLP dual/dual on my SS, there is a little rasp but it's not bad IMO.
Actually the car does not seem that much louder than with the stock exhaust.
The race version is just AIR & EGR delete. Definetly get coated and if you're going with the TSP ory be prepared for the banging Y pipe problem. Mine is hitting like a muther. Like I said hopefullythe Mufflex piece fixes it. I was reading in another thread someone used rubber fuel line to combat the problem.

Just out of curiosity has anyone weighed thier Pacesetter headers ? I'm curious what the weight savings is from the stock manifolds. I wish I would have remembered to do this before installing them. Just from handling the parts one oem manifold felt like it weighed more than both headers together did.
Anyone have weights on either one ?

VTC_WS6 Apr 26, 2005 02:11 PM

I'd agree, one Pace felt like half the weight of one stock manifold.. too bad I didn't weigh them myself.
