i know when i went from the borla with small plate to the bassani tru-dual it cut the interior noise in half. also, it got rid of the high pitch the borla had as well. might be tad bit quieter out the back. can't tell as i'm not back there when i'm driving.

Absolutely. I don't think my longtubes and dumped duals with bullet mufflers were any louder than stock plus loudmouth. Sounds 100000 times better though.

It would be hard to make duals quieter than cat-back. Usually quiet=big muffler, and it would be hard to fit two big mufflers under the car with duals.

i need to quiet my car, and i'm not sure if i should put a muffler in the lm, srap the lm and get a mufflex or magnaflow, or get tru duals made from some shorty headers and stock cats (cuz i'min cali). i just need it to be quieter than the lm, but i dont want to loose any power. any suggestions? thanks

first, yes, duals would be quieter than a loud mouth w/headers (you have cats or not?). also duals would sound much cleaner with xr-1s or bullets on it versus a cat back, just given, youre not dealing with a y pipe, and a muffler turned on its side. the duals would sound cleaner, more vette like. my mustang GT has no cats and mufflers (mustangs are H piped duals if you need that bit of info) and its quiet at idle, loud when i get on it, but it sounds so much cleaner than my friends 95 T/A with midlengths, gutted cat and hooker cat backl. id definitely say go duals, and if not, do a borlamouth swap or dynomouth (putting the borla xr-1 muffler in the resonator spot or a bullet muffler). but thats just my two cents

anything has to be quieter than my car right now. just installed headers, but have yet to put the y on. dunno if you can do duals in cali, and if you can, you will probably have to go all the way out the back.

in cali, anything past the cats is legal. so long as the cats are in their original location. the cats are before the y section.

Your telling me that he could dump right past the cats with no muffler or anything? I highly doubt it.

Hes in THE WORST STATE for mods. Cali cops check your headlight level from the ground up with a measuring tape just to see if your cars to low.

I bet if your exhaust doesnt go out the back and a Cali cop or HI-PO sees.... its your ***.

I don't know, nor do I want to, how everything in cali works...but federal emissions do not require that the exhaust exits out the back. Don't know if our typicall dumped duals would be okay or not though. (I passed my emisisons )
