Why isn't there a production true dual exhaust that exits out the rear?

Default Why isn't there a production true dual exhaust that exits out the rear?

With the high demand, why isn't there a system like this produced yet? The Texas Speed setup is just over $400 with the bullet mufflers. Even a 2.5" system with some nice mufflers that sold for $550-600 would make a killing. Seems like a no-brainer.

Instead we all have to go hunting for a shop that can rig something up for us. There are none near where I live so having a production exhaust like this would be very nice.

Speed inc True duals, and bassani. Both are uber-expensive.

600 for TD's out the back , TTP made an offer to make a TD out the back setup but people balked at the price of 1200 bucks.

I'm not talking about a custom fit, per car, job. Someone just needs to design a standard out of the box one (like a catback) and market it. Piping and mufflers wouldn't be too much of the cost, and someone priced it right, they could make a killing.

$1200-1500 for a setup where you have to get your car to a shop just isn't that reasonable of a price. No wonder so many people go under the axle from a local shop.

the only problem with that is there are too many variables. stock manifolds with or without cats, headers shorty's,mid length and lt's. it would be nice tho.im still all stock and cant make up my mind yet.now that my wife is working it will be easier to hide the deliveries.

TTP's was a standard pre fabbed out the box setup, again, people balked out the price.

and Jam01 is correct, to many variables. hell, my TSP dumps which are sposed to be an easy bolt on had to be modified and clearance is almost non existant is some places. i cant imagine trying to fab up a full dual setup.

your best bet if you want, is to buy the tubing and piping from summit or jegs and make your own duals.

How many people have bought the piping and mufflers themselves, and made their own kit? What is the roundabout price on that if you have access to a welder and can do the work to get it to fit?

there've been a few people, dont remember s/n off hand, who have bought this type of **** and some extra J-bends and what not and come up with a cheap setup.

Yes, I too am sketchy on the details but I remembered thinking that it was worth the money and had a lot of work in it. It's too bad really. I could recommend duals to EVERYBODY if there was a standard out the back system. As it stands there is still the slight issue of occasional fumes and apparently that bothers some people. Go figure.

Yeah, same here. I have carpet but none of that insulation that came underneath it. I very rarely get fumes, but once in awhile....I didn't quite realize how much louder it would be when I got a cam either.

me neither, and my cam has more overlap then yours does, not to mention i've got 2 full points of compression on you.

thats why i laugh when people always want a loud exhaust, because be careful what you wish for

I have a lot of fumes, but nothing I can't put up with. My wife keeps saying my car "stinks". I kind of like the smell, sort of like old school. But I am going to get a tune soon and I hear that clears up the smell. As for volume, I love it. Yes it is loud, but damn it sounds so good!

That's right, I remember seeing that you had some insanely high compression. You running 12:1? What cam? Your sig is helpfull for noobs (if they'd ever read it) but I can't just glance down and read your mods....

12.02 and my FTI custom cam 238/236 112+0, cam has ~15.5* overlap @.050

mods are in my cardomain site (click pic), but i havent updated that in ages, even though i really need to.

Stupid question: How do you get ~15.5 degrees overlap? (Intake + exhaust)/4, subtract LSA then multiply by two. Gives me 13* for your cam. It also gives 13.5* for mine, which I believe is correct...

If youre thinking of going UNDER the axle, try my old setup. It uses some bends to go under the axle and to the side, but them comes back inline with the original bullets. Its perfect for a home grown CME. Simply attach a 45º-90º-45º bendout to get under the axle. Rather than the bend going straight down, let it andle mostly to the side and only down slightly. This tucks it right inside by the wheel. Its got great clearance everywhere, and if the axle does hyperextend, or it gets put on a lift, it only rotates the slip fit pipe where it enters the bullet mufflers. I wish I had pics, but hopefully you know what I mean by the explanation. Got rid of the fumes, and actually quieted it down considerably since I only had single 12" bullets.
