Default tsp ory vs. catted y

does anyone know if the y itself is different or if its the same y with cats welded in?? i would like to use their y and add a flowmaster merge and make flanges for cats or !cats depending on my mood (kinda like flp) but would rather cut up a $150 y pipe than a $350 y pipe.
