mid's vs. LT's

hey, ive been looking for some headers for my 98 trans am. around here LT's are illegal (NC) and im worried about not passing inspection if i get them. i was wondering what the performance and sound difference was between mid tubes and long tubes. and what are some good brands that are a little cheaper?

I know this term gets used a lot but do a search. There are a ton of threads debating this very issue.

:werd:

As you will find out, shorties suck. Mids aren't as good as longtubes and are just as illegal. You still might be able to pass emissions, depending on what kind of tests they run. Go to the testing facilty and find out if they do a visual and/or sniffer. If it's OBDII plug in you can pass. BTW: Longtubes *and mids* are technically illegal everywhere as it's federally illegal to move or remove the cats. ;)

check the exhaust guide, i've got pics comparing them and KP's macs vs LT's dyno....

and you'll fail with Macs as much as you will with LT's so why not juts bite the bullet

Two of my friends who live in north carolina have long tubes and pass without any problems. Where in NC do you live by the way?
