need help quick

i am lookin into gettin an exhuast but stayin leagal...i live in VA and we have emmisions....i am gettin LT's but i also am gettin hi-flow cats...BUT here is the question...does anyone know if dual exhuast dumped befor the axle is illegal or not...i wouldn't think so as long as i have mufflers....but please someone chime in or even help look it up for me

yes it is it has to have cats though....the point of emissions is that the fumes coming out of your pipes are clean and not pure exhaust, the cats have to "scrub" the air...

As long as you have cats and a muffler they can't write you a ticket for improper equipment but they can write you a ticket for excessive niose.

You can get a ticket for anything that's modified on your exhaust system around here.

False. A cop wrote me a ticket for improper equipment because I had put an after market exhaust on my car the judge found me not guilty due to the fact it was a replacement exhaust with muffler. (Flowmaster) This was about 2 years ago and I guess it would depend on the judge, area, and his mood.

I ran my old Camaro (87 IROC) with shorties, no cats, and flowmasters dumped in front of the rear for over a year and a half in VA with no problems. Just keep it quiet when the Fuzz is around. When I went to get inspected they made me get cats, but thats it. Then it sounded like a damn truck :(. As long as it comes past the passenger compartment you are fine. This is what trooper told me. Technically with our cars being hatchbacks, they could say it had to come all the way out, but as long as its even with the rear seat, it should be cool.

I stand corrected. I guess it depends on how picky the cops are in your area.
