What's my next mod?? Mods are in the sig. What should I get next?? I was thinking maybe an LS6 manifold. What do you guys think? |
depends on what you want to spend and what you want to do with your car. LT headers are always good. A gear may be a good choice as well. Sticky tires are good too. Too many choices with your current mod level. About anything will allow you to build on each other. If you plan on putting on heads and a cam later, maybe you would want to go ahead and get the fast intake instead of the LS6. just think about where you want the car to end up so that you don't waste money now. Good luck and happy modding. |
I would finish up with your exhaust first, i.e. headers, before you put on a ls6 intake. Also, you definitely need to consider some suspension upgrades, esp. subframes connectors and shocks/springs. |
Well guys my car is going to be my daily driver when I get a cobra again. I don't think I wanna do cams, but heads is an exception. What brand LT headers should I get and how much would it cost me? |
I have Hooker LT's and like them just fine. BTW you only have one cam in the SS. it's not like your cobra....:) I have a fairly small cam in my z and it would be just fine as a daily driver. I've got a pretty good tune in it now and it doesn't act much worse than a stock car driving around. Just a lot more fun when I push on the loud pedal. |
I really want a good sounding car. Would it sound better if I had a ORY and a cutout? |
I went with mac mids, mac ory, and a magnaflow. Its loud! The way I wanted it! Its not really a daily driver so to speak. But gets driven alot. I installed a hooker cat back on my Impala SS, and its sounds stong, but not crazy for daily driving. Its a smooth, mean tone upon start up, gets aggresive when your hard on it, but is quieter when crusing. |
So my car will sound more of a beast with a ORY?? |
Maybe a ported TB, I got mine from bo white for 65 but he stopped porting for the most part, but i know ron (cammin beasst) does it for 75 and does the same quality work bo does. Both are by far the best ported stock t/b for your money. Also look into a ASP underdrive crank pulley |
I would go with full length QTP's and an ORY. That way you get the car sounding good. I'm not sure if it's legal where you are at though. So the next best thing would be to make it accelerate better. So my second vote would be for a set of gears. |

How many miles do you have on your car? Are you running stock shocks with the prokit? If so, upgrade to Koni or revalved Bilsteins. Also SFCs are at the top of my list for fbody mods. With gears you do not need to change the rear housing...you might think about a T/A girdle though (really just a bandaid). Unless you are willing to re-install your stock manifolds and y pipe, or know a "friendly" smog inspector, I would not go with long tubes and offroad y pipe in Cali. Didn't somebody come out with a carb legal mid length header not too long ago? |

headers or SFC's, and a cutout. |

SFCs = Sub Frame Connectors. They come in two flavors: bolt-in and weld-in. I have had welded in SFCs in each of the 3 fbodies I have owned so I don't know how well the bolt-ins work. I would highly recommend these for our cars. |
get headers first, then gears |
Headers. |

Where are those annoying interior squeeks coming from?? I need to get rid of those...If the SFC's will do it then I'll be getting that |
