ls1 q's

hey guys im kinda of new to the ls1 engine i have tried to learn as much as i can before i swap one into my 01 v6 firebird. i have learned a lot but there are still a few things i have been unable to find without asking or atleast a clear answer. like what are some of the things the factory engine really doesnt need and will be replaced with aftermarket parts. currently i have a 98 ls1 with a 99 pcm and wiring harness on a stand waiting i know some things have changed down the line from the introduction of the ls1 in 97. i know that the coolant pumping throught the tb can be rerouted and the egr can be covered and removed and deleted from the pcm. but one question i have been un able to find an answer too is what are the tubes coming up out of the stock manifolds (not the egr)? also please let me know if there any vacume lines or any uslesss parts that can be removed while i have the motor out and can work on it. thanks.

Are you talking about the 02 sensors from the manifolds?
