Default Sealed Ram Air vs. Blocked off opening

well ive got numerous logs with my hood debaffled and sealed to the air box and i see about 99-100 kpa on average at WOT at speeds under 90 mph. i made a block off plate to keep the rain out and WOT now i only see about 96 kpa of manifold pressure, and this stayed consistent on multiple runs. also, i do not have the free ram air cutout under the box. so its like getting a half a pound of boost lol

Do you still have the screens on the nostril openings? Wonder if it would make any difference if you took them off....

no there is nothing there at all i can reach my hand in to the air box. i was trying to think of a way that looked good, to create less turbulance within the box as well to see if that helped out

if it looks better then the bg system then that is very impressive and you should sell it, because i dont think the bg will be around much longer. No really the bg kit is expensive for what it is but i fits great.Have you seen the bg system in person on a car?

i do agree it looks great, there are just some litlte things that i want to do to change some of the stuff. i have never seen the rain blocker though? does it totally block off the ram air? the set up i have lets air still come in through the ram air when the plate is on there to keep rain out

i havent seen the rain blocker plate but i think it completely blocks it except for a small 1" or so hole in the middle.

One of the most ridiculous arguments around. Especially on a tech site.

Just because someone has the time/ability/desire to do something on their own doesn't mean it's crap. I guess it's good for the companies that most feel that way.

i'm with you, beware of those guys that have applied experience and knowledge to their rides, and not just new parts.

I can't wait to see your setup, I have often looked and pondered at doing my own sealed airbox mod, just never took the time. Good luck on the pictures.

pics still wont work but i found a fairly thick piece of rubber, about 1/4 inch thick and 1/2 inch wide as a gasket. it is made to handle extreme weather conditions in our air compressors (Ingersoll-Rand) then i used the old piece in the hood as a template. ive still got to get the other piece to go on the air box to seal it and make some vents in the hood (im learning some things in fluids right now that im going to try to apply to get the best flow)
