Tr6's

TR6's vs TR55's .... what is the difference, i know that the TR6 are a colder plug. Would there be any benifit to switching to TR6's? My car likes to run fat and i didnt know if using a colder plug would work better or worse?

Thanks in advance

Paul

TR6's will foul up really quickly if you're running rich.

So switch to TR6's if you enjoy changing plugs every 3 months. :secret2:

Damn i already haved to change the TR55's every 3000 miles. Maybe i should try a differnt plug all together.

Is there a particular reason you like to run your car so rich?

WS6nJAX Oct 1, 2005 04:03 PM

my car has run rich ever sense i put on my headers. just have not gotten to the point of installing a cam so have not had it tuned yet. but it runs really, really rich.

Are you talking about WOT A/F?

FLeXNuTZ Oct 1, 2005 06:51 PM

I'm confused, I thought TR6s were damn good plugs.

I run them in my TA b/c I run N2O

They're great plugs. Made primarily for FI or Nitrous. They're just very prone to fouling, especially if your car runs rich.

SSDriver Oct 1, 2005 07:58 PM

They are great plugs but really only used on cars with forced induction or Nitrous. Any colder plug will be more prone to fouling out on a car that is running rich. My tr6's(just pulled them out) looked good and have about 6k miles on them NA(nitrous was disconected for too long :(, back on now sorta). My car isn't running really rich either but not lean by any means. Go with tr55's for a bolt-on that doesn't have a rich/low timing tune.

how the hell do i tell if it is running rich or lean without pulling plugs

But what about a rich/low timing tune? Granted im probrably going to have the car retuned any way. Only the 5th time in 1 year :(

WS6nJAX Oct 2, 2005 12:19 PM

do they even make a hotter plug for the ls1 than the tr55's ???

Lithium Oct 2, 2005 01:04 PM

tr55's get my vote.
