Header's question

I have a 2000 A4 SS and i was wondering when i do the header install if i get the ones with the air and egr fittings will they bolt up nicely? what is the difference between the egr/air fittings and the race style?, also how long do you guys think pacesetters will last vs. kooks? or any kind of headers 1 year,5?. if I do remove the air/egr fittings what effect will it have on my car?
thanks

1. If you get the headers for your year they should bolt up no problem.
2. Race style headers do not have fitting for EGR/AIR.
3. Any set of headers should last you at least a few years depending on weather conditions you drive in. Will Kooks last longer? Yes, because a coated header will begin to rust within the first year, depending on upkeep and weather again. Kooks are stainless steel.
4. Removing AIR/EGR will not affect how your car runs. But you will throw codes that will need to be tuned out.

I had a problem with my pacesetters I ordered a month ago, when I installed them the egr and air tubes from headers were on wrong tubes and wouldn't reach, so i had to cut off egr and weld it closed and take my egr off. ( I don't know maybe they sent me wrong year tubes??) If you leave cats on i would probably keep your air system.. and 02ss0384 answered the rest of your questions.

Installed coated Flowtechs and y pipe...fit was great...made by same company as Hooker.

My Jet-Hots were a good fit, but I had to take the steering shaft off (on the drivers side), and make sure you take the coil packs off for more room up top. All the emissions crap got taken off. good luck---Andrew

I have a question also , will the pacesetters needs O2 extentions ?

SLPSS01 Oct 23, 2005 01:38 PM

yes they will. Get the 24" extensions and you should be all set.
Also get a set of GM gaskets as well, the ones that come with the Pacesetter's are cheap paper type gaskets.
