What is the most quiet catback w/LTs and ORY ??

OK I've been through the FAQs, and afew pages of posts and didn't find exactly what I needed so...

This weekend my daily driver got a set of Hooker LTs and ORY. I bought it with a stock catback and flowmaster muffler ALREADY on the car. The flowmaster sounded ok with manifolds and cats, but now it sounds like SHIT with lots of kazoo and rasp, pops after throttle like mad.

Now finally to the question.... the LTs and ORY have made the car LOUD. What are some of the most quiet catback systems available?

Thanks for your time.

SLP dual-dual; it's what I use. Very tame with LTs and ORY.

I have a Hooker setup on my TA that is under the knife right now. It'll come back w OR ex., but as of now, I've only heard it with cats/manifolds as well...

2 guys in my local F-body club said SLP dual dual also; thanks for the input...

You can do an adjustable Borla with the block off plate. That is very quiet.

Def Slp Dual/Dual, B&B Triflo, Bassani quiet thunder.

obZidian 01-30-2006 10:53 AM

man, thanks for posting this.. i was just gonna post a similar thread....

From all the reviews and replies, it seems that the best option available for a quiet yet good flowing exhaust would be the SLP dual/dual. There really hasnt been much improvement with a cutout so that shows the merit of this system.

MY question is a bit differnt where i have a 408ci stroker. I have dynatech LT'z with their high flow-cats. REally, they are like like cans with a screen in it. Actually, the holes in the cats screens are larger than the one in our MAF!!!

Anyways, i have all of this running thorugh an SLP loudmouth. IT WAS AMAZING!! scary at all times!!! Just nascar quality tone, volume.

I loved it...my GF and the cops around town really didnt care much for though i never got pulled over once. SO, opted to do a swap and took the rezo out and replaced it with a SLP bullet style muffler. I think this is one bad ass muffler, sounds deeper that hte borla, no rasp...seriously, No rasp and cut the volume down by maybe 25-30%.

So, now im lookin to see what i can do to make the car more quiet. ITs not fun anymore...ppl know not to mess with me...it sucks!!!

ANyone run a 408ci with this muffler and lt'z? ANy feedback, reviews?

hooker is quiet with an ORY and even quieter with a Catted-Y.

It is most definitely SLP Dual Dual. Others are quiet too, but Dual Dual is the quietest.

Personally I like the sound of the magnaflow plus it dynos good!

Well, if quiet is what your after I think the best choice is the stock system. I have a clip of mine with LT/ORY and stock muffer. Barely different from stock.

Now, it won't be the best performing, but if you want stock look and sound, it fits the bill nicely.

I have Jet-Hots w/ ORY through the SLP CME (same muffler as
D/D, just plumbed different out the back). Sounds good, pretty
mellow on the street but plenty loud enough when you get on it.
Then there is the cutout....

The hooker aerochamber cat back system I have is quiet, flows well, and isn't expensive. I personally see no reason to pay another $300+ to get the slp system.

The SLP dual dual systems name makes it sound like its a true dual system but its just like any other cat back with 1 pipe to the muffler and 2 out the muffler to the back of the car(with dual tips).

SLP Dual Dual on my car. It is supremely quiet, making it ideal for street racing without attracting attention of the cops from 2 miles away.

you2slo 01-30-2006 02:29 PM

I have the LT, ORY, and Dual/dual and I don't care for it at all. It seems like the car is gasping/rasping. At WOT it is amazing, even from a couple blocks away. At idle it sounds good. It's very deep and sounds good. But during normal driving and at about 50% acceleration it SUCKS. If it didn't flow so well I would switch it for a Hooker CB.

I run Pacesetter LT's, ORY, and a Borla Cat back. When the solid block off plate is in the Borla it's very quite and no rasp. Best thing is you can open it up for the track.
