Short belt mod ? Has anyone seen any real performance gains for the short belt mod, is it actually worth the money to get the belt just for the track...anyone do any back to back runs? also posted in the drag racing forum |

The short belt mod can get you up to 7 RWHP dyno proven since it bypasses the power steering. You use a belt with a part# 538K6. Dont forget to remove the lower bolt on your alternator or you'll shred the belt. |
I am not quite sure what a short belt mod is...this is the first Ive heard of it. Can someone explain it to me? Thanks! |
you use a shorter belt so the only pullys you use are, tensioner, crank, altenator, water pump. no power steering |
Oh ok, so you have no power steering with this mod. Thanks! |
Also, I've never run my ac belt eigther. If you spin the ac pulley by hand that thing is heavy! It must be such a relief for the engine not to rev it up every gear. When I took that belt off I could feel the difference the first time I drove it. I never use the ac anyway. |

The part number is for a ASP pulley. I'm not sure if ASP makes pullies with different underdrive ratios, maybe someone can chime in? |
thanks |
