Aren't MAF Ends Just As Good As . . . . A GMAF, SLP, Pace, etc. if you tune properly with LS1 Edit (or even a maft?) It looks like the opening (with MAF ends) is about the same so it should flow as much air. And if you tune in your MAF table then you're technically "calibrated". Am I making sense or am I all wet? Is there any advantage to the "LS6" style units over MAF ends and LS1 Edit?? Mark |
Re: Aren't MAF Ends Just As Good As . . . . IMO Yes. |
Re: Aren't MAF Ends Just As Good As . . . . IMO the MAF ends are the way to go. Paul |
Re: Aren't MAF Ends Just As Good As . . . . I got the LS6 MAF and I love it. |
Re: Aren't MAF Ends Just As Good As . . . . Thanks for the input. I've got maf ends and a no-screen Pace maf. We're going to play around with the wide-band and Edit this weekend and see what we can get to work better (or the same) Mark |
Re: Aren't MAF Ends Just As Good As . . . . I have heard, but not have tested, that ported MAF ends, even when tweaked with Edit aren't quite as accurate as buying a bigger MAF. However, most people use a linear correction factor in Edit, whereas if you were to try Chris B's non-linear model that might eliminate the issue. |
Re: Aren't MAF Ends Just As Good As . . . . Sparky..Keep us posted. I have a set of MAF Ends, and I'm about to have the car Edited again. I'm contemplating weather to put the Ends on or just stay with the Stock MAF. [ May 24, 2002, 11:37 AM: Message edited by: HOSS99 ] |
Re: Aren't MAF Ends Just As Good As . . . . Dyno results: Setup 1: Pace descreened Calibrated LS6 Maf Setup 2: ThunderRacing ported ends with a tweaked LS1Edit Maf table (I didn't do this table linear, I adjusted according to Ltrim readings at a particular maf frequency) 2 dyno runs with setup one (back to back). Then switched to setup 2. Results were within 2HP of each other 374 - 376. Ragtop, does Chris have a "you plug in the value" Excel file for maf values? I did mine real "hackish"! Mark |
Re: Aren't MAF Ends Just As Good As . . . . Sparky: Chris has instructions for how to do a curve fit and it requires decent excel skills (e.g. pivot table). It isn't plug and play. your results are exactly what is expected for a stock cube motor w/o big mods. Stock MAF flows well. |
