Who has ported the LS6 intake manifold?
Recently ive been running into threads where members have suggested porting the ls6 manifold. I was under the impression that this couldnt be done because its too thin, and the nylon-77 (IIRC) does not react well to being ground away. If youve got an info on this, please post up!
Thanks,
-Tony

You cannot extrude hone the ls6 intake manifold because it is made from a somewhat brittle plastic. However you can extrude hone aluminum components such as intake manifolds, headers, etc, but that is a different story altogether. The ls6 intake does benefit from carefully removing material in strategic places to increase it's total volumetric efficiency, without deteriorating the tuned flow characterisitcs that gm researched and developed over extensive hours. It's proven to increase airflow a measurable amount that might provide increased capacity for greatly modified engine combinations.
I've had that particular intake for some time now in addition to images, let me know if you have other specific questions and I'll answer as best as I can.

We can do them , results are around 5-10 rwhp pending your set up (closer to 4-5 rwhp on a stock set up and around 8-10 rwhp on a fully modified set up) , cost is $150 . It would be optimum if we had the heads you were using , or if you can just note that it is for a stock head . The majority of the gain is had at the inlet of the intake manifold and a little port work is done as well . You do have to be caerful because it is thin and you can not remove too much in certain areas . I don't use carbide on plastic .

You can not make the LS6 intake as good as the FAST intake in my opinion , at least I wouldn't know how to do so .
We tested the FAST intake against an LS6 intake almost 2 years ago (immediate before and after) on an 02 Formula M6 that had the stock cam and heads with all the bolt ons , it made 11 rwhp more and 16 more with tuning , I know everyone gets different results and conditions can slightly change results (sorry , I don't know where the graphs are , it was a long time ago) . I have never tested the stock LS6 verses ported just doing a before and after swapping only the intake , but we regularly do common set ups on similar vehicles and every time we uses a ported LS6 intake verses nonported the car always makes 5-10 more rwhp as long as it is properly tuned .

11 more rwhp untuned , 16 more rwhp tuned , Never tested a FAST 78 mm tb . Not sure if the fast tb would put down more or not , but I do not like their throttle bodies , the 90 mm ones always stick and you have to rig up a return spring to get it to close .
