A couple of ?'s about modifications to MAC's?

OK, I'm about to pick up a set of used MAC's, and I want to pick every bit of HP I can out of these things! First things first, the previous owner has already ported the primaries, next, I already have the Flowmaster 2-1/2" to 3" Y-collector, and next, I need to cut off the ball flanges, and weld in collector redusers, right? What size is the collector on the MAC's, is it 2-1/2" or 3"? I need to know, that way I can order either the 2-1/2" to 2-1/2" collector, or the 3" to 2-1/2". I know the y-pipe is 2-1/2", but what size is the actual collector point on the MAC's right before the ball flange? Finally, is there anything else I can do to these headers before I put them on to squeeze a lil more HP out of'em?! TIA for any help given!

Re: A couple of ?'s about modifications to MAC's?

forget about the y-pipe, i just took my car to a local exhaust shop and cut the ball flange off my macs and went back with 3in true duals. after you cut the ball flange the header collector is 3in.i bought 2 bullet mufflers for 70 bucks and the muffler shop charged me 200 for the true duals so for 270 it was cheaper than a y-pipe/catback setup. if you are set on getting a y-pipe you will need a reducer that goes from 3in to 2 1/2in. i will say that the true duals sounds badass. it is pretty loud but i can deal with it.let me know if you have any more questions.
