Loud Exhaust
And I wanted to add that the Loudmouth 2 is not going to be much quieter. It still has no muffler, just a single bullet that muffles the sound barely more. It WILL still be very loud.
There's only one "muffler" for the Loudmouth system (not 2) and it really isn't even a muffler. It's just a bullet and it really doesn't quiet it down much. We had a stock Z with LM right next to another Z with LM 2 and there was hardly a difference to tell you a truth. There was, but it wasn't much at all.
Bottom line: LSTSS02, If you replace the resonator/bullet with a small Magnaflow, Dynomax, or Borla muffler, it will still be very loud. Those smaller mufflers added to a loudmouth will change the tone mainly and muffle it a bit, but you're still going to be pretty raucious. Even adding a catted Y-pipe to your setup won't quiet it down a ton. As I said before, if you want it quieter and not just the tone changed, you may as well just sell your LM and buy another catback. This would be the simplest thing to do. In order of quietest to loudest on your setup would probably be: SLP Dual/Dual, Hooker or SLP 2OTL, Magnaflow.... everything other than that gets pretty ridiculous with LTs and an ORY. Good luck!
This guy's exhaust should be the SLP Dual/Dual. Great flowing, great sounding exhaust (mine should arrive tomorrow
). It will be the quietest catback with LTs and an ORY, but will still be loud enough to let people know it's got some power. I need to grow up
I'm thinking about switching to Slp dual/dual or borla if I can come up with the $$.
I WAS going to replace the resonators with the bullets, but if it makes no diff on it, then I will have to switch exhausts.
Loud exhausts are for people who didn't buy a V8.

I heard the LM II resonator was quieter (1/2-1" smaller diameter?), so I figured the bullet muffler would be even quieter. Personally, I love the reaction on people's faces when they hear the LM at WOT, and I love even more the awesome sound just winding it out and downshifting. Next I'm going TD with LM resonators.[EDIT] Ditto on the car alarms; my wife just rolls her eyes while I chuckle a the sirens and Das Blinkin Lights.
I'm just afraid of my foundation shifting when I cold start my car in my garage.
A turbo will make it quieter, right?

You must be having a lot of fun with those 4.10's and street tires
Imagine what it could just porting the stock heads
Courageous Rev Limit for stock rod bolts and lifters
If so, which one is suggested? I went on the site and see there are a few of them.....main difference is length..........
any suggestions are helpful....
Thanks
Ported stock heads? I was planning to get some mongoose heads or something along the lines of 205, but would it be better to just port the stockers??<I'd still have to opt for pistons/rods, right?? The 4.10's are great all around, but take a toll on the street tires in the high rpms.
My shop told me to stick with stock rockers and lifters despite the raised rpm range. The hp curve starts to drop after 6200 rpm so I usually shift at 6K.
I have hit the 7k redline on a showoff rev, and it sounds sick!!!
). I think a lot of people under estimate what the stock LS1 heads can do hand-ported. There's a guy around here that will give you rebuilt, hand-ported heads for your set-up for $1700 and your original LS1 heads. If you want bigger than stock valve sizes you can give him a set of as-cast heads of your choosing up front. If you plan on Turbos or a 500+ hp 346 set up, then there are some weaknesses in the stock bottom end that have been noted in a lot of posts. I don't think the rods are a problem, but the pistons and rod bolts can be. I think the two biggest weaknesses are the rod bolts stretching and the ring lands on the pistons breaking. If you add forged pistons and Katek rod bolts, you might as well get some H-Beam rods while you're at it, though. I'm going to try to get away with just new rod bolts, since my goal is about 435 rwhp N/A and I won't spray it that often...(yeah, right). I won't go forged until I put a stoker kit in it or replace it with a 402.
Heres one of it on the street @ WOT
