QTEC's These look like just about the coolest thing ive seen. Anyone have a pair, if so how much do they help/how do they sound? I saw on their site 300 bucks for 2 cutouts and 2 of those QTEC things, sounds worth it, is it? |
Re: QTEC's Bought mine but didn't install yet. Hooked them up to a 12v supply and they're very smooth, single switch operates both in synch, takes about 5 seconds to open or close fully, and you can stop them part way if you want. Only thing I'm considering is altering mine to automatically power off the motor when you hit the end (via resistance/voltage detection circuit), since if you hold the switch too long it will keep pushing and eventually kill the motors. They do sell a switch that does just that for $40, I'll see if I get used to the 5 second countdown, if not may just add that feature myself. -Dave
quote:
Originally posted by BensZ28: These look like just about the coolest thing ive seen. Re: QTEC's I just hooked my quick time single cutout controller up today..man that switch was big..it barely fit in ashtray due to being so high..anyway the manual switch is pretty easy to use..if your stereo is down you can easily here when its full open or closed and the motor makes a different noise at the ends of the range so you just let off right away when you hear that or when you hear the exhaust stop getting louder or stop getting quieter..the auto switch is more for track so you can launch and then punch the button and it will open as you go down.probably for reasons of you want the torque at the start and then move the power curve up as you go..I do feel less bottom end power with it open and more with it closed..its a great toy....fun..fun..fun.. and really like you can set it between full open and closed..thats great..a volume control for your exhaust..the look on the face of that big winged decalled wanabe race car that sounds like a lawn mower when you open the cutout while sitting at the lights...priceless.!!!
