Yeah, I swear that site has been my homepage for the last couple of weeks now . I'm going nuts trying to decide on a catback. I really like the sound of the hooker catback, but magnaflows got some nice clips too

Can anyone else confirm that the stock WS6 catback will fit directly with a pacesetter y-pipe with out any welding? I'm doing the install my self and I'd need it to be a slip fit so I can just put a U clamp on it..

Thanks

I'm pretty sure that almost all the aftermarket Y's are made to go with stock or any aftermarket cat-back. Just like all the after market cat backs are made to go with a stock Y. Unless it is a custom Y with a 3" or bigger exit. Most Y's a tapered down at the end to fit the cat back.

I just wanted to add that through out my many exhausts changes. I put a stock ws6 exhaust on my Hooker header/Y-pipe combo and I personally thought it sounded like ***. To me it sounded like a V-10 or an import with a way oversized exhaust. So I eventually went with the Hooker cat back and love it. I put a 3" cutout in the I-pipe for the loudness.

If you ask me who wouldnt love three Hookers under their car.

Did you have a catted y or a ORY with the WS6 exhaust?

I would do some poly motor mounts at the same time. Otherwise you will be cursing yourself later when you want to put them in because your y pipe is banging your floor and are ready to kill yourself 30 hours later after fighting the headers to get to the clamshell bolts

I had the off road Y. I'm not sure how it would sound with a catted Y. I know that I got made fun of by everyone I new. So after a couple of days with it on, I took it off.

edit; I agre with Luna as well. If your going to do poly mounts, when you have the headers off would be a great time. I never had any banging problems with the Hooker setup. I did switch to poly motor mounts later on just to get the stockers out and with the headers out it would've made it a little easier.

Well the thought had crossed my mind (to hook it up to the stock catback). I'm up for instection next month, so I may just order a catback, get my car inspected next month, THEN put in the new exhaust, and be worry free for 2 years

I like the way mine sounds with the ORY personally. IT is quiet during normal driving, but loud as **** at full throttle, and after I install the cutout....

I have the OTL 98 WS6 Catback btw, which sounds much better than the regular WS6 Catback behind an ORY imo.

if you didnt check and you didnt install the Y pipe yet u better check this out:
look inside where the 2 pipes are welded together for the merge, pacesetter doesnt cut the hole big enough inside so u only get a 1.5"x2" hol in there for your passenger side exhaust. my old Y had it and my new one had it ive also read about this problem from other people but nobody really takes notice to it but its a major restriction on 1 side ofthe motor, i had mine opened up with a torch at a local shop but i sujest u check it.

Wow, yeah you're right I can see it now that I looked at it. I can see where the welds are from the inside...did you just have the excess overhanging metal removed?

Well, first of all, it's a daily driver. I don't want droning exhaust driving me nuts because it's dumped under the axle.

2nd without any tips in the rear it will look wierd.

Anyone drive with the Rumbler daily?

edit: for grammer :p
