Headers- mids vs LT's

For a usual bolt-on naturally aspirated car, don't midlengths breath fine? I'm thinking they will keep the low-end torque the manifolds give but also ad hp. I'm thinking LT's would yield less Low-end tq. but ad more top-end hp.

Now, for a h/c car? I know the LT's are good for 10 rwhp more over the mids but is the car any faster, cause don't you lose low-end tq? How does this work? I guess it would be better for traction so you wouldn't spin off the line and make it up in the top-end when traction isn't a factor but I love the feel the car has on take-off?

Somebody did a test between the MAC Mid-Length headers and SLP LT's. I cant remember exactly what the results were, but your hypothesis is pretty much correct. For a regular bolt on car, Mid lengths work wonders, as LT's are really a waste of money. Now for a H/C cam, I'd probably suggest LT's, but again, Mid-lengths will work, there probably is much more than a .1 second difference between the two.

Mid-lengths like Macs (the jury still seems to be out on Bassanis) will do fine for HP, but will actually provide a bit less mid-range torque. Longer primaries keep exhaust velocity a bit higher and help in the low to midrange grunt department. Dyno tests have born this out. However, I am sure you would be happy with midlengths on your bolt-on setup. Just my $.02.

i got macs on my bolt on car and love them, every one i know pretty much has macs and alot of them have heads cam and spray cars, there isnt that big of a difference except for $$$, i have even heard of macs making more power then some of the LT headers!!!! i would recomend getting the macs jet coated b/c if you dont your engine temp will increase.
