FWIW if you live in the Repulik of Kalifornia, you're going to have serious problems passing the visual with long tubes (all are illegal in CA) unless you have a hook up with a place that doesn't give a ****, not to mention the lack of EGR and AIR they're going to kick you in the nuts when they open the hood

Yeah I thought a lot about that today. This state F*ckin sucks! I have a 01 LS6 intake manifold in my room too. I might just sell the LT's and LS6 manifold so I don't have to worry about all that ****.

FWIW you could sell the LS6, and get the SLP version, and add some shorty headers (they're CA legal)
It's possible to have a modded car in CA, you just have to do it a little differently

Would I pass smog if I get a D1 procharger? I've met a few people here in CA that have S/C LS1's and cam/heads etc. LS1's, but I know they gotta hook up somewhere. WIll shorties give me some HP? If I had the LT's with the EGR will I pass then? The SLP version LS6(EGR) price went up. Pretty expensive if you ask me.

Any exhaust setup that moves the cats from their stock location makes it illegal.

Check this thread out.

These emmisions in CA really makes we wanna sell my SS because it stops me from doing everything I want to do to it. Sounds like I should get a 03/04 cobra because I can still pass emissions with a lot of HP.

I think you should do shorty headers, high flow cats, proper tune job, and dump a 150 shot on it.

IIRC the procharger does have a carb legal sticker, so that's an option, of course a hidden nitrous kit would give you some extra ponies, and still be (kinda) legal, than there's head and cam combos that work with stock manifolds (and should still pass the sniffer)
See it's possible, you just gotta be smart (and a little sneaky) about it

If I lived somewhere like that, I'd build a badass motor and do a motor swap once a year (or once every 2 years) for inspection purposes.

Bah if you build it right, there's no reason to swap anything
Been there done that

Doubt you could bring a 400+ inch solid roller motor with a 260* cam and dumped bullets off the headers in for a California inspection. Well, actually, the tech's would probably die from that much smog overload, then you could administer the test yourself!
