Default 5.7L Indmar Carb

Hi, I have a 2004 5.7L Indmar Carb engine in my tow boat...

I am replacing the spark plugs today and my manual says to gap them at .030"

These seems awful small? Or is it b/c it is carb vs fuel inj?

Usually you would gap them smaller to avoid the spark from being 'blown out' by high compression, forced induction, or because it's a colder plug. For example, the TR55's are usually gapped at 0.055" while the TR6's are gapped at 0.04" because they are a colder plug. I usually gap my TR55's closer to 0.05", but 0.03" is really close.

What kind of plug is it?

It comes with a OE gap of .045... maybe I should just try that?
