Default burning rubber at high rpm's? (not what you think)

i was doing some (testing) last night and when i was getting into the high rpm's i started to smell burning rubber. anybody have an idea what this could be? it wasnt the tires because i was moving already. i guess it was coming from the front of the car because i could smell it while i was moving.
