Sheet Metal Intakes - Who makes'em? And are the prices back down to Earth yet? What is the typical gains attributed from them with HC setups? Have a good one... |
Re: Sheet Metal Intakes - Who makes'em? RGR is the only one i am framiluar with. as far as prices they are still at 1800. Mayne when they get down to 900 or less i will buy one. |
Re: Sheet Metal Intakes - Who makes'em? Excuse my stupidity but who is RGR? Thanks! |
Re: Sheet Metal Intakes - Who makes'em? I was thinking about getting a sheetmetal intake for my 422, but the general concensus is that the LS6 intake is better at the track, although the sheetmatal intake may look better on a dyno. I will be doing a LS6 intake and using the extra $$$ on other mods. |
Re: Sheet Metal Intakes - Who makes'em? Allan Futral's first version of his intake picked up 20 rwhp and 2+ mph over the LS6 on his heads cam car (475 rwhp 346). |
Re: Sheet Metal Intakes - Who makes'em? Moving to External Engine... |
Re: Sheet Metal Intakes - Who makes'em? I am looking into a sheetmetal intake as well. Even though my car is only a heads and cam set up on stock inches. I dont run at the strip though, I run at high RPM's for an extended period of time in Open Road Racing. I wonder if there would be any gains using the sheetal intake for that application? |
Re: Sheet Metal Intakes - Who makes'em? The short runner lengths on the sheet metal intakes improves upper rpm horsepower. It also decreases lower end torque too |
Re: Sheet Metal Intakes - Who makes'em? I've heard speedaholics is good for around 20+hp over ls6.... but I've NEVER seen people post dyno numbers to prove this |

Re: Sheet Metal Intakes - Who makes'em? hogans makes a sheet metal intake that is designed after the ls1/ls6 intake. |

Re: Sheet Metal Intakes - Who makes'em? www.hogansracingmanifolds.com they use to have a pic of it on their website. it looked just like a ls6 intkae. just made out of sheetmetal. |
Re: Sheet Metal Intakes - Who makes'em? We are working on some differant styles that are going to work for differant applications. But I think the best for a heads and cam car sofar is the LS6 intake. Unless you are running a big cubic inch motor I dod`t think a sheet metal will gain anything as of yet. We will test on smaller motors also. We will keep you posted. Nate |
Re: Sheet Metal Intakes - Who makes'em? I have the Speed Inc sheet metal intake on my 383. I got it for 1799 with nitrous bungs installed. I should have some dyno numbers here in a bit compairing it to the LS6 intake. |
Re: Sheet Metal Intakes - Who makes'em? Guys I should have Dyno sheets on 4 diffrent types of motors, but the Intake we are dynoing favors the lasrger cubic in motor, I just had a variation of the intake made for the smaller motors, which I expect too do very well. The reason the LS6 intake was out running the other sheet metal atthe track, was that the power under the curve was better for the LS6. The sheet metal I have now dose not lose too the LS6 anywhere on the graph (on the 422). I will like too have some more testing before I release the intake fully. but you can Email me for Dyno graphs, and pictures and any other questions you may have. I will be happy too help. Peak TQ was down by 5 at 5400 RPM-same peak RPM for the LS6 intake. In a fuel injection intake, the port length is more critical than cross-section area. Will be working out the A\F ratio soon and trying some changes and dyno testing on a 434, 427 and 418 solid roller motor Also will be doing testing on a hyd cam\heads car and a cam only car. This piece will be tested completely before final production Will have results in Jan. and preliminary pricing and other "good" info |
