FIPK and FTRA Together

I am planning on either buying a lid and FTRA or a FIPK in the near future. But i hear alot of bad things about the FIPK, and Volant with heat soaking so i was wondering if it is posible to cut a hole in the bottom of the FIPK or Volant induction system and use the FTRA with them. I am kinda leaning towards either the K&N or Volant cause i like the looks. Just want to hear some opinions.

Thanks
Jr

I plan on adding the FTRA to my FIPK and doing some other modifications to the Formula hood to increase airflow.. I'll post pictures ASAP.

My choice of the FIPK was primarily for looks. I did get added performance in 60-90 MPH acceleration and an increase in gas mileage.
Good enough for me.

Re: FIPK and FTRA Together

My opinion here. I think the FIPK is worthwhile for the Z28 flat hood. If you are creative, you can use the air flow from your front grille to get more air to the FIPK. The FIPK has much more surface area than the lid type filter. However, if you have a ram air hood, I would go with the lid and flat filter. Despite the rumors, I always see an equal or lower IAT than the guys with a lid. Even at idle. That is for Camaro anyway. If you have a TA look into the above suggestions. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

Re: FIPK and FTRA Together

Isn't the point of the FTRA is to have a sealed airbox to force in the air? If you have a FIPK, wouldnt that just cancel the 'sealed' airbox out?

However I think you would get some benefit but not much from the rush of cool air at higher speeds.

I have a '99 T/A non-ram air, and I added the FIPK and cut a hole into the hood latch, as to make the baby nostrils actually fuctional. It worked, fresh cold air goes straight to the K&N. I just have to clean the filter a little more frequently.

Eventually, I'll spring for a Raptor style hood as well.
