factory driveshaft Q's....... just wondering how good a factory driveshaft is. and can you put a factory 3" in place of the steel driveshaft without problems. if i wanted to get 3.73 gears and runs slicks would the drive shaft be ok, or would it be better to buy an aftermarket. and are there weight diffences between and aftermarket alum. driveshaft and a factory one. any info is appreciated. |
Re: factory driveshaft Q's....... You can replace the factory steel one with the factory aluminum one, no problems. If you're gonna be running slicks with an M6, I'd get an aftermarket one. Denny's Driveshaft is a good name, I have their 3.5" HD aluminum shaft. I broke my stock aluminum driveshaft on the stock tires with 311rwhp <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" /> Dope |
Re: factory driveshaft Q's....... I HAVE AN A4 AND HAVE 330RWHP SO I GUESS AFTERMARKET IS THE WAY TO GO |
Re: factory driveshaft Q's....... i dont think you need to put an aftermarket DS in there at all. esp at low power levels. i made well over 350 passes on my old 6 speed setup which shocked the tires much harder than my auto car now. i had a DS loop ofcourse but ended up breaking the rear way before. i ran 26 and then 28 inch et drags on my car with 4.10 and then 4.56 gears and never broke it. raging motorsports (another KS guy) has made way more passes and in the solid 1.56 60' times on drags and never broke it. replace it if it breaks. the stock aluminum is a tough sob! kansas, what track do you run at? |
