Getting LT's...what else do I need??

I'm getting pacesetter lt's from tsp tomorrow and I need to know what else I will need...of course the lt's and tsp ory, but what else? gaskets? can I reuse the stock ones? are the ones that come with the pacesetters any good? I won't have to purchase new bolts will I? I would like the get rid of EGR, what all does that involve? Can tsp tune out the rear O2's for me? I just have a lot of questions about the specifics so any input would be great. Thanks.

For the gaskets, you can get new GM gaskets from any dealer. O2 extensions for the front set, and O2 sims for the rear set. You can reuse the stock bolts, or use the ones that come with the headers(thats what I did). You should also replace the spark plugs while you are at it, just make sure to put anti seize on the plug threads before you put them back in. You can also put anti seize on your header bolts. If you are installting them yourself, just take your time with the install.

what exhaust are you putting on?

jpat1023 Jun 5, 2006 02:50 AM

I already have slp dual/dual and I am about to add pacesetter longtubes with the tsp ory.

Is buying new gaskets a must???

btw...im not installing them, im in the middle of moving to new house so I have no workspace at all...i am going to have tsp install them. I want to make sure I let them know exactly what I want w/ all the details, I am just unsure on some of them...(refer to first post)

id go ahead and do it.. you may as well, theyre only a few bucks

jpat1023 Jun 5, 2006 02:55 AM

O really, I will have to pick some up then.

what about egr, what all does it take to get rid of that?

GET_SOM Jun 5, 2006 03:08 AM

go to your local hardware store and pick up a 1 and 3/8 inch freezer plug.. that'll fit into and plug up your intake... next pick up a peice of sheet metal and make a pattern to match the area your blocking off. Drill a couple holes in it and you'll be all set.

You can find block off plates online if you search hard enough. There was a tuning shop down the street from me back home that sold them... A quick way to block it off (i dont recommend this but a buddy of mine did it) is to just take a hammer to the egr tube lol.. hope this helps

the multi-layered gm stock replacements will work fine unless you plan on using the real seal type from Percy's or Flow Pro.

jpat1023 Jun 5, 2006 10:10 AM

Ok, so here is my list now:
pacesetter longtubes
TSP ORY
New GM gaskets
Some type of egr block off plate
1 3/8" freezer plug

ok, I really do not have the money to spring for some O2 sims, I want to just get them tuned out...do you know who can do this for me?? maybe tsp? anything else?

jpat1023 Jun 5, 2006 01:22 PM

ttt...

GET_SOM Jun 5, 2006 01:52 PM

heres a link for the o2 sims.. theyre pretty inexpensive.. hope that helps at all?

jpat1023 Jun 5, 2006 02:53 PM

Well, if i buy the from there it is still about $75 for two, tsp has them form $88 and I dont have to pay shipping or wait for them to get here. Thanks for the link tho.

I would really like to tune them out, but it seems as though nobody can help me with that question??? Has nobody else had lt's installed by tsp, does no one know if they can tune them out for me??

where in Texas are you I have two gm gaskits unused still in wrapping for a 2000 t/a ls1

orangeapeel Jun 5, 2006 02:56 PM

I would just wait and get them deleted. Less crap hanging underneath the car plus you might benefit greatly from a tune.

I am guessing Lubbock area. He said no shipping and no waiting.

jpat1023 Jun 5, 2006 02:58 PM

Lubbock...they sound perfect, the only thing is I am looking to get these put on like tomorrow...what did you do with your rear O2's, sims or what?

edit: good guess orange.

Also, I just read in the sticky at the top of this forum that if you are getting "race" headers you do not have to have egr block off plates....is this right, b/c i am getting race headers...

Right, you won't need anything but the freeze plug for the intake.

jpat1023 Jun 5, 2006 03:23 PM

Ok, cool, that is what I wanted to hear.
So all I need is the lt's, ory, freeze plug, and then a way to tune out rear o2's, egr, and air, right???

SRpwred240 Jun 5, 2006 04:00 PM

Is it ok to drive the car after you get rid of the EGR and AIR, because after I put my headers and LS6 intake it gonna be about a month or 2 till I can get a tune and get them tuned out?

Yes the car will be fine besides the SES light staring you in the face.
