Why is stock PCV grounded?

Why is stock PCV grounded? I have had to modify my PCV system since installing a set of LS6 centerbolt valve covers on my 98 TA. I needed the centerbolt covers since I now have installed a set of TEA 5.3 heads (had to dump the stock perimeter bolt valve covers).
Anyway, does anyone know why the hell GM would use a grounding strap on a PCV valve? Makes NO sense to me. My modified PCV system is now not grounded.

Re: Why is stock PCV grounded? The only thing that comes to mind is to avoid static discharge from igniting fuel/oil vapor in the block (stating the obvious), but this is the first I have heard of it. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Confused]" src="images/icons/confused.gif" />

Why does it need a heat sink? Good question, all I remember is that one of my manuals listed it as a heat sink...
