volt gauge bouncing all over WTF??? I was driven around last night and the volt gauge kept bouncing around. I have a procharger on there thats the only recent thing that has been done along with the tuning of course for the fans and the timing and all that good stuff. The car has a new die hard in it and it has 38,000 miles on the car 1,000 on the blower. I would be driving down the street it would be fine but as soon as I came to a red light or stop sign the head lights would dim (they would dim light a little flash then go back to normal but the volt gauge would still be down) and the volt gauge drop almost to the red zone. When i pull away it goes back up. I did the gauges and the procharger install myself. The car has not done this before with the blower on it. Is the blower belt way to tight or is it alternator time? I don't think a 40K mile car needs an alternator already. I am looking for everyones .02. any help would be appreciated. |
Re: volt gauge bouncing all over WTF??? I had the same problem on my 98 Z....I took it to the dealer and he said it is probably a bent pulley. Sure enough I checked the Crank Pulley and it was bent to hell, wobblying REAL bad. My problem was bad enough that it dimmed the lights as I was driving just from the stereo!! I have not put the new pulley on yet, but I might be pulling the whole engine out for a 382 due to a leaking head gasket.... As you asked, these are my .02 Hope this helps...check your pulleysn first. |
