underdrive pully un-install

Can anyone tell me how to take off my underdrive pully bolt with the block out of the car with no flywheel/ flexplate?

Impact Gun :)

shanev8 06-18-2006 05:14 PM

and that wont round off the bolt at all.... how do i have to sit there with the impact gun for it to come off... last time i stood there for a good 2 minutes and the bolt didnt budge....

You will need a gun that can generate enough torque to do it. I had to go buy a new gun the last time I took mine off because the one that came with the compressor couldnt cut it.

my impact gun "electric" dewault didnt work what so ever....
i have a 3 gallon air compressor, would that cut it?

conundrum07 06-18-2006 07:07 PM

As long as the compressor can generate the needed pressure to run the gun, yes. My air tools use ~90 psi fwiw.

TheBlurLS1 06-18-2006 07:24 PM

Mine say 90psi, but I run them at about 150psi. If you're having trouble, you could put the wrench/socket on the bolt and whack it with a hammer. One good bump will usually loosen anything. :D

I used an Ingersoll Rand impact at a guys shop that was so powerfull, that it actually rotated the world instead of the bolt. I swear it had to have been running on 4000psi nitrogen or something......
