Here is my true dual setup. Installed 2 weeks ago to replace a dodgy true dual system which had a pipe going down the drivers side and hitting the axle and torque arm.

It's a 2.5 inch stainless system with H pipe (full diameter opening on the H), no cats and bullet mufflers and twin outlet tail pipes. Custom built for me.

Inside with the Windows closed it's not too bad. You can certainly hear it, don't get me wrong. Highway speeds it quitens down but it screams at WOT. For some I guess they would say it's too loud inside.

With the windows open and/or T tops off it is very loud. The car can be heard when you get on it from about a mile away maybe further if the winds right. As it's not my daily I thought what the hell....

There is a regulation which sets a dB level at idle within so many feet of the exhaust outlet and then again at a "fast idle" engine speed. I can't remember the decibel figure allowed.

Usually though, unless you're doing something stupid or revving the **** out of the car really late or early morning the police seem to leave the american cars alone as they kind of expect them to be louder. If i was a civic driver with a rasp-fest exhaust and hitting up the local McDonalds car park every friday night i can guarantee they would ticket me for the exhaust.

Worst case scenario is they stop us, check the volume of the exhaust and then give a fine and a ticket to get it changed within so many days (28? i think). As the muffler sections of the exhaust have been fitted by clamp just out of view on those photos, the guy who made it said he will swap the mufflers over if i get any problems with the law.

Correction - You can just make out the band clamps in one of those photos.

LOL American cars are just SOO barbaric! I can TOTALLY believe that attitude! My sister married a Brit and they live outside of London. Always hearing how we Americans can be so uncouth. Me included (intentional, sometimes...). Have a good one, man!
BTW, NICE exhaust! GOOD craftsmanship!

Setup question for an 01 WS6 :

I want my car to sound as close to the sound that my friend's 2011 SS Camaro sounds like ( it sounds Insane .... in a good way )

He says, all he had done was......... he Added TSP 1 7/8 Headers , No Cats, Has an Electric Cut-Out ( right where the Header meets the True-Duals ) and he has True Duals of course ( Car came stocked with TDs )

If I do the exact same setup to mine , will I be able to mimic the way that his sounds , pretty much to the T ?

And to do this full setup , what would I be looking price wise as an Estimated price ?

I can't compare Apples to Apples to what it cost him , as he already had TDs on his car . and his car is a 2011 SS camaro and my car is a 2001 WS6

Thanks so much for the help and insight

Non of these cars came with a true dual exhaust stock.

To get the sound like your friends, you need to find out what mufflers he has and get a true dual with the same mufflers, add a set of headers and a cutout and you will be there.

TheNutDriver ,

I just talked to him

Here's what he told me :
He has...... TSP 1 7/8 Long Tube Headers that are going Directly into the Cut-Outs ( Electric Cut-outs )

He has Flow Masters as his Mufflers

Do you think, if I mimic this exact setup , that are cars will sound near identical ?

An estimated costs to do this full setup ?

Thank you again for all of your help

Just my opinion on trying to sound like another(different type) car. First off you have different motors. The exhaust systems are different. The 5-6 gens have mirrored/equal length dual piping. Muffler placement/size is different. The only way to get a dual system like this on a 4th gen would be dumped or under the axle?

Maybe with cutouts open it'd be close. Can't say anything would sound identical on different cars(4thgen-5thgen). Only one way to find out.

what SoFla said exactly. This is the same reason that C5 vettes sound nothing like 4th gen f bodies and they have the same exact engine. The piping on duals on f bodies is so asymmetrical you wont get it to sound like a 5th or 6th gen even if you had same engine in your f body

I just bought tsp duals over the axle and I was wondering how did it work out with the clearance? I'm having issues with my x pipe under the bmr relocation torque arm bracket?

What’s the weight on a tsp true dual setup that dumps at the axle? Also the weight of the tsp over the axle true dual setup? Anyone know?

Go on their site and see if they state shipping weights.
