LT's,ORY, Stock SS cat-back.

I finally have rounded up all my parts to install my QTP race headers. I am leaving the stock SS cat-back with an electric cut-out. Has anyone heard this set up, or should it sound alot like the SLP D.D. thanks.

ive heard pacesetters into a stock catback... it kinda sounded like they didnt have lts just a semi-quiet aftermarket catback... hard sound to explain

i run Pace LTs, TSP ORY and stock Z catback with a flowmaster muffler with a cutout right after the end of the y pipe. its quiet when i want it to be (cutout closed) and then i unleash hell with it open. im very happy with my combo, you prob will be as well.

i know the flowmaster is a blowmaster, but it was on the car when i bought it and if i wanna make power, just open her up.

i think silas2k and i are speaking about the same thing, with the cutout closed, it just kinda quiets down the LTs from being such a dominating sound.

Is it the Dual Dual catback, or the dual single tip outlet style. The D/D will sound pretty good IMO from what I've heard on LS1sounds, although never heard the "stock" other style one...

I simply took the cats off my car and had them redo the stock Y-pipe to take out the crimp on the driver's side. Except for the stupid Y-pipe flexing a little and hitting the bottom of the car if I lose traction, the exhaust sounds GREAT!
Stock SS muffler, stock "headers."...no cats and an ORY pipe...it sounds awesome.
I get guys all the time asking me what set up I have because they like the sound so much. When I do a "ricer" fly-by on a family member, they say it sounds like all hell has broken loose as I pass them and even when I'm 100 feet in front of them still accelerating!
I got it all done for $100...I though it was a pretty good deal for what I got...

wait...do you mean by SS muffler the SLP dual/dual catback or do you have a basic stock catback on there made by GM. if it's the GM stock exhaust i have a hard time believing it sounds like "all hell is breaking loose". your car must have come with the optional SLP lid/exhaust (dual/dual) package, correct? because i'd believe it then. the dual/dual sounds amazing.

^ you love your dual/dual like i love my loudmouth.

SLP still makes the "stock SS" catback. I dont have the Dual Dual Catback, I have heard this set up on LS1sounds.com. Its awesome. I have never heard the " Stock SS" catback with LT's and ORY pipe. I am installing my QTP's as soon as my y-pipe gets here reguardless.

LT pacesetters, ORY, electric cutout right after Y, stock catback? I keep asking people this question and never get a straight answer....Would that setup produce more HP then true duals with cutout open?

Build #1 Jun 28, 2006 11:45 PM

I will put my cut out in the I-pipe before the rear axle. I know that will sound good. I love the way it sounds now. Its just too damn quite.

oneBADDz Jun 28, 2006 11:50 PM

I've heard it exactly like you are talking about. It sounded like trash IMO through the stock exhaust, the cutout will sound nice though

Camaro94SS Jun 29, 2006 01:28 AM

anyone?.....oh alright

Lethal_Ws6 Jun 29, 2006 01:37 AM

Z2K_MrJ Jun 29, 2006 08:24 AM

Probably Very Similar if not better flow with the cut out.

Camaro94SS Jun 29, 2006 11:27 AM

Thats what i think/hoping but no one ever gives me an answer lol....much cheaper to go that route then true duals, and i dont car abotu the sound...thats like a ricer caring about decals....i want more horsies!

Build #1 Jun 29, 2006 11:38 PM

Maybe my real questions is, since SLP makes the stock SS and Dual Dual, how much are they alike?

BuBbABFP Jun 30, 2006 02:54 AM

u should try TSP duals, very very quite.

Build #1 Jun 30, 2006 11:37 AM

This car sounds so good stock, its just so quiet. The LT's and ory should sound good with the Stock SS muffler, if not, I will get the Dual Dual. I am looking for the best sound with ORY. The electric cut will just be my little toy for when my wifes not in the car.

P.S. I do need to switch to NGK TR55's correct? My Y-pipe came today so its freakin go time.

ChocoTaco369 Jun 30, 2006 11:50 AM

well then you have to get the dual/dual. it's the only exhaust that doesn't rasp like hell with an ORY (yes, hooker and magnaflow rasp, don't tell me they don't, they sound like you're gurgling mouthwash when you rev them). you better buy one quick because they're discontinued and ws6store is the only place i see them left.
