Pacesetter's vs. QTP's gains?

Big perfomance difference on a 236/236cam? Low-end gains/higher rpm gains?

I recommend that you don't worry about gains as much as fitment when choosing your headers. That being said, Kooks and QTP are both exceptional both in fitment and gains.

My recommendation for any application on an F-body is QTP or Kooks headers with a custom Y-pipe. The QTP Y is very difficult to get to fit, and Kooks doesn't offer a catted Y (or didn't when I puchased my exhaust).

definitely going with a custom mufflex off road y if I go with QTPs, but looking at JUST performance, which is better, are the gains minimal?

anyone else?opinions?

dude, longtubes are longtubes, its gonna be 1rwhp difference if any... pacesetters fit great by the way

m6speed Sep 28, 2006 11:17 AM

my pacesetters havent rusted. i got the ceramic coating on them and they are still as shiny as the day i bought them.

I am going to go w/ QTP or Kooks when I get headers... Stainless > non stainless. W/ non SS headers, they may be ok for a while... or they may not rust... but w/ SS headers, they WILL be fine for a VERY long time and will NOT rust.

Stainless headers > nonstainless headers :yup:

This is especially true if you must drive them through a Joisie winter! :eek2:

Budget = pacesetters, No Budget = kooks...I have helped install both and I felt that the Kooks were easier, howver botht the Kooks and Qtps are top notch headers. Also, as someone else already said the HVMC on the QTP's is great but you wont see a huge difference over any of the other LT's out there.

QTP if price is not a major concern. You will have just about enough left over for an ORY if you arn't going to run cats.

I like the QTP's simply because they look great, and you never have to worry about enviromental conditions taking a toll on them.

QTP off road y or mufflex custom off road y? ($300 vs. $500) Many say fitment is poor with the qtp y but it flows better? Any have experience with a custom mufflex y? Most seem to go this route.

i had jethot headers.. i had to grind my kmember...the rusted within a few months..
got set of qtp headers gained power and now more than a year later they still look perfect

im leaning towards pacesetters or maybe stainless works. but a shinier header isnt gonna make you faster..

I've heard that Mufflex can fab up a y that flows as well as (or better than) anyone elses. I think they use a "Flowmaster style " collector on big diameter tubing with great results. You just have to tell them this is what you want.

Sweet, I wanted that flowmaster y collector like the qtp y pipe. They don't do mandrel bends thought, right?

This is an old, old story, but nothing fits better than Pacesetters. Search and see (if it's working). I helped a buddy install a set and we were having a little difficulty on the driver's side until ... duh ... we realized we forgot to take the oil filter off.

I sold my QTP headers and crappy catted y. Too much banging around down there! Now I got some Kooks with the Kooks stainless catted y :) Fits verry well.
