Help me....misfire at idle
 
Well I did the thunder coil relocation a while ago and the car ran fine. I also did tr55 plugs and shortly after that the car was stored in my garage all summer for shocks, springs and brakes. Well, after all is said ands done I go to fire her up to bleed the brakes and a flashing ses comes up. Small pops :bang: out the exhaust! kinda smooth idle.

I just changed all the plugs again and they were all loose even after 11ft/lb's?
Some boots of the wire had white powder around them? Arcing?

I think I might of mixed coils but, I can't trace that back. I didn't even rev it's idling like shit.

How can I double check the coil order? Should I attemp to switch some wires or is that to risky? Maybe I have a broken valve or pushrod

When I did my coil relocation I ran into the same problem. I made my own kit and actually had to lengthen the wiring harness and that's where I mixed the coils up. It's easy to do. Mine is a '99 so wire colors might be a little different. You have 4 wires on each coil. 3 of them are the same color for each coil while one is a different color. The three colors on mine are Pink, Brown and Black. The other wire (should be 2nd one from left on harness) goes as follows. Drivers side front coil to rear 1-Purple 2-Blue 3-Green 4-Red. Passenger side is the opposite 1-Red 2-Green 3-Blue 4-Purple. Hope this helps.

I think the pass side was reversed. it goes #2 purple #4 blue #3 green #4 red.

I'm going to try reversing it now.

DAMN IT! the pass was reversed but, I still have the ses flashing. It sounds better no pops really. I'm going to pull the plugs again....... :cry:

If you read my thread on coil relocation gone bad you saw the pics of the plugs right? That was only a few minutes idle time. I'll bet you have a few fouled plugs and that will set an ses light. Do you have a scanner? If not just reset the light and see what happens. Also if you have a spark plug cleaner you should be alright, if not you need to replace those plugs and it will run even better.

No scanner. I just changed one plug too. I really had the pass side F'ed up. I still have a SES but, I removed egr/air. At least it's not flashing anymore and I know I got it right when I fired it up.
