Best muffler with no cats and LT's

only vote if you've heard a few, not just if you have one and think you're shit is the greatest. i'm thinking about getting something a little louder but i don't want it overly aggresive at idle.

I have heard Magnaflow and LM1, I love the sound of the LM1.. But everyone will have thier own opinion.

Personally I hate the sound of LM1 with LTs period... too raspy and alot of drone! Dynomax bullets are ok, flowmaster 1-chambers, GMMG (probally the best sounding IMO)

I've heard of LT1 kooks LTs/no cats/GMMG exhaust, sounds pretty good (orange LT1 Z28 on base).

Darbadocious Nov 9, 2006 09:33 PM

what is drone, my magnaflow sounds a little raspy in the upper rpm's and a little airy in the lower. i like the upper rpm sound but i'm not crazy about the lower.

When you say muffler do you mean just that or full catback or what?

yea, i've met him and heard it several times. are you sure he's running without cats. i'd be more than happy with that, don't get me wrong, i'm happy with this i'm just picky so i want everything perfect.

got ya and one last question bullets box or what?

I have a Magnaflow bullet awesome tone, but pretty loud, rowdey is a good word for it.

Borla is also a good one, but GMMG is nice!

I have had true duals, lm1 lm2 dynamouth magnaflow and now I have a hooker aero chamber. I like the hooker the best. It sounds like a bone stock mustang with a cam. I only lost 2.3 hp and gained torque over my ture dual set up. Now you cant hear the car run on the highway.

If you don't want it too loud then running most of them without cats may be just that. But this is very subjective.

And it all depends on taste, someone who loves the chambered muffler sound like the GMMG and LM will not usually favour the sound of a Hooker or Magnaflow, or vice versa.

The GMMG sounds great, but it will be loud and probably sound not as good without cats. My choice would then be the Stainless Works chambered exhaust. It has more muffler length than the GMMG so will offer a more toned sound. With cats it's IMO too tame, but without it should curer all of the down sides of the GMMG.

Sounds horrid.

I want my car to sound like a muscle car not a family sedan.

Any exhaust quieter than a LM and it gets sent back for something more appropriate :D

JustAnIlluzion Nov 10, 2006 05:43 AM

all those sound good outside of the car, however a LM1/2 sounds terrible only inside the car w/o cats.

Justin00SS Nov 10, 2006 05:55 AM

I hate the way borla/corsa sounds and especially how the tips look.

Long ugly stainless steel pipe then short ass shiny tip. uuuuuuuuugly. I think the Magnaflow tips look the best. Or really any tip that that is at least 18in long. The less ugly exhaust pipe you see out the back the better.

As far as mufflers go.......I like the way the magnaflow bullet sounds when coupled with the LM. This is the Magnamouth.

I also like the way my Magnaflow catback sounds with LTs and ORY although there are a few setups that I alot better.

The best I hve ever heard was the True Duals w/ sweet thunders. :burn:

I Got A Loudmout On My Truck And My Car...won't Ever Change!

JohnnyC Nov 10, 2006 01:47 PM

I guess it all comes down to what he means by "the best" muffler. To some, obnoxiously loud regardless of sound quality is "the best". To others, a quieter and more tuned sound quality is "the best". What about drone? Rasp? Price? Gosh, this is getting confusing. I can't decide...

Screw it, Hooker rules! :headbang:

Nobody like this cat-back? B&B Tri-Flow. Sounds great with headers and no cats!
I had Borla, too raspy with Lt's/no cats. So was Magnaflow.
I like the huge quad tips on the B&B too. But they aint for everbody.
