How's this look? (Catch can)

Just finished my cam swap + Installing my new LS6 Valley/Catch can set up.

Here are some pics for ya... :)

You know whats wierd to me... The line the goes from the throttle body to the passenger valley cover, doesnt that thing defeat the perpose of the catch can?
I mean, thats a direct port to sucking in oil withought the filtration of the catch can.
Just looks fishy to me...

Input?

it seems the throttle body hose should be hooked up to the catch can and the other two teed into one into the catchcan as well

TheLS1Kid Dec 19, 2006 11:06 PM

looks very clean!

caviness Dec 19, 2006 11:08 PM

yea i think they both should run through the catch can. thats how im going to do mine.

Ferocity02 Dec 19, 2006 11:14 PM

Wheres the PCV valve?

TWISTEDTA Dec 19, 2006 11:16 PM

Yea thats what i thought too, but one look into the corvette forum and it told me otherwise.
Also i fallowed the intstruction's... Some people are running two catch cans!

I have to see more picture's... I know i did a search a while back and i found a thread that had a bunch of picture's or everyone's different set up, i cant find the sucker now.

I blocked that off like i was told to. I have the LS6 Valley cover though :drive:

I'm going to run 2 catch cans... gotta put something in the battery's spot after I relocate it.

2MuchRiceMakesMeSick Dec 20, 2006 12:49 AM

very clean. i might lower it a bit if you can (its hard to tell from the pics)

DeviLs1 Dec 20, 2006 01:36 AM

Looks clean man .. And doesnt a Catchcan eliminate the purpose of a PCV valve??

I had a AMC? i think it was, but took it off, didnt do much.. lol but kinda make things worse i duno...

RrCoX22 Dec 20, 2006 01:50 AM

some bomb ass shit right there... make me one? :)

bene Dec 20, 2006 07:52 AM

Looks backward to me.

DirtyJohn Dec 20, 2006 08:10 AM

that's very similar to what mine will look like once it comes in.
I just ordered mine on monday.

For the record mine will flow..
Valvecovers -> PCV -> Catchcan -> Intake manifold

That's the majority of what I've seen for those that don't have the LS6 valley PCV system.

dedge Dec 20, 2006 10:46 AM

That line that goes from the TB to the passengers valve cover is to let the PVC system breath. Its pulling in air from the TB to the valve cover not the other way.

Many pictures in that thread. The people that run a catch can to the PCV only do it because they dont have an LS6/LS6 Valley cover.

ls6 valley cover is not a cover and pcv valve in one, it is just a cover with an outlet to hook the pcv up to instead of hooking up to the rocker cover.
LS6 motors stll have a pcv valve between the valley intake and the intake manifold.

nice setup!

line from the valley cover should go to the bottom connector so the oil can fall to the bottom of the can, way you have it now, oil will get sucked thru the manifold on its way down

Oooh thanks for the correction... i wasnt sure what it did besides save you some oil. I just fallowed the instruction's, we'll see what my tuner says when he looks at it today :)

looks good... but if you want it to 100% get the oil out of the intake (the purpose of the catch can) rip teh whole pcv system off, throw it in the trash, cap all of that off, remove that hose going from the TB to the valvecover too, cap that thing off as well, run a line to yourcatch can on the side of it, and put a filter off the top. Any oil mist that would have clogged the little filter will now get colleted in the can, and you're now venting the pressure out thru the can. That's hwo I have mine hooked up, i reused the amw can I bought back when they first came out, looks/works fine. Ya don't really need the can actually, you can just put a filter on the end of a hose off the ls6 valley cover too, but eventually the oil fumes will saturate it.

That is a nice looking catch can to by the way.

It depends on the catch can design actually...how he has it is how the AMW catch can is supposed to be hooked up. I'd have to see the internals to know if that is right or not with that catch can.

As for the fresh air line going from the valve cover to the TB...there is very little oil that goes through that line (I never had any come through mine). It shouldn't matter either way if you keep it or dump it.
