Tune After LT's

Installing Pacesetter LT's w/ ORY. Who with LTs got there car tuned after the install? How long after your LTs did you get it tuned? Was it a noticable difference?

Use the search and you'll prob. find tons of articles on this, but a tune is not necessary for most - however it will help. Yes the exhaust set up will be a noticeable difference

get 'er done :)

....only if you don't plan on modding anymore :judge:

you really do not need to.. your computer will do a great job of recalibrating itself.. a tune will jsut get your tables down to wher it should be, get a better A:F

totally up to you. what mods do you plan on in the future? if you NX or Turbo, Cam or SC you will need to retune again..

all depends on the future

If you're not adding any more mods, get a tune. After I installed the LT's on my otherwise stock 98, my VE tables were way off!

plan on ls6 intake, Port polish TB, pulleys, and thats it for a long time. Would i have to re-tune for these? i plan on having all this stuff on with in 4-6 months.

chill on the tune then :judge:

I would just wait until the other mods are done. I did a search in the tuning section and found a lot of threads on theis topic.

I couldn't tell much of a difference after my LTs, TDs, and lid. Maybe it's just me? Only mod. the car had before was a Borla cat-back.

get your mods that you are going to do now and then get your tune.. that is if like in a month after you add what you wanted you decide to add more stuff..

i waited a little over 4 months between the time I installed them & got tuned.

Did you guys reall notice a difference going from being untuned to being tuned??

Because there are no shops around me who tune F-Bodies, and its rather expensive, so I'd rather not get a tune unless absolutely necessary.

If you can handle the crappy gas mileage...

After my L/T install my car went from a solid 26mpg on the highway to about 21 or so. I havent had it tuned yet, putting heads and cam in as we speak.

Beasst8 Dec 22, 2006 10:08 AM

Ive posted this several times before.

After my Pacesetter LT and ORY install, I had it dynoed. It put down like 308rwhp, then after the tune within 10min it dynoed 334rwhp. If you were to take a bone stock car and get it tuned, you would show some gains. It will not hurt anything, but you are leaving some out on the table. If you are going to be doing H/C or anything else anytime soon, just wait. I had a 6 month gap and had it tuned anyway. It was worth it to me. Just my .02

Yes TUNE IT! I went aboput a week after LT install w/o a tune. My gas milkeage was TERRIBLE!! I used about a half a tank driving down there. ESP tuned mine. I got 36hp out of it. THey said that the LT's flow more and the computer thinks there is more air in the EXH so it in turn richens it up, killing power and gas mileage.
