Making my own TD'S

Im sick of the rasp with my ORY...so im looking to go true duals......since i have a welder. would it be fairly easy to make my own....besise for getting all the measurmants?

Hope you have a lift. Buy straight pipe and universal mandrel bends from summit or jegs, but my guess is if you have to ask if it would be easy or not, then you are probably not experienced enough to do it with much success.
Not tryin to be negative, but honest.
I would let an experienced exhaust shop that you trust do it :)

Well i figured it would be a fun project...even if i ended up not using it for what ever reasons....is there any one that made there own out there that had there measurments?

With a little imagination, I would think you could make a great system. Just look at as many pics as you can of custom set-ups and take your time. Buy plenty of material and mandrel bends, then go to town. I would lift your car as much as you can and then climb underneath and start putting it together. Try mocking it with some flexible hose of some type. Good luck and keep us posted.

I decided to make my own fiberglass pin-on hood a long time ago for my old TA (I had a bit of experience with fiberglass) because it would be fun and would cost me less than another hood, or so I thought :eyes:
It took along time to finish, alot of hard work, had to get painted, and still didn't work out cause It got a crack(my fault).
If you are going into it as a project, have plenty of time and don't mind the loss of money if it doesn't work out, then more power to ya!!

Best wishes

James

i custom fabbed mine. took about 4 hours and i dont even have a bender, i cut and welded it. cant even tell it was cut. looks like a true mandral bent exhaust system. i say go for it if you have any fabrication skills. its deffinately cooler to tell someone that you made it and not paid to have it made. just my .02.

Every car is different so measurements wouldnt matter. Its trial and error and test fitting.

Here's some pics of one setup that I built this weekend for someone.

Wow those look really nice! I think maybe I will have to try my hand at it. Arent those 1 chambers a little loud though??

Did any of you guys with duals "flip the fuel lines" like I keep hearing people do with the TSP and other duals? If so, what does that mean exactly? Pics would be great.

yeah it an be quite noisy at times, but i like it  when i made my duals, i also made a heat shield that covers my fuel lines and fuel filter, so they dont get hot.
