now is the time when you wish you had an aftermarket k-member

You can suspend motor in the engine bay using a crane and remove k-member.. or you can pull the motor and leave the k-member. I would either do A or B and not have to work around things.

yes the pan has to come off completely as stock the gasket comes tacked to the oil pan itself. So yes either A- pull engine B- drop k-member enough to get it out (i'd go with B) either way its a p.i.a

i had my pan off to clean it when i did h/c etc. it wasnt to bad, the engine was unbolted and jacked up about 3 inches(intake manifold off) it was easy to get out after that. took the gasket off cleaned it and the pan. lined up the gasket with the pan - then rivited it back to the pan.. looks as it was never touched.

SDPC2000.com

2007 L92 Oil Pan Gasket 12580672 $27.78

Updated part number from the LS1, but should work from what my research says.

So if you have a aftermarket k-member is there room to change it? I've changed the gasket before when the engine was out so it's not riveted anymore.

it would sure make it easier as the k members the only part in the way of removing the pan..
